It's a Western series about a mysterious man, known only as the Virginian, who is the foreman of the Shiloh Ranch in Wyoming. The role of the Virginian is played by James Drury, who appears in all nine seasons of the show. The series originally had five main characters: Judge Garth, owner of Shiloh; his daughter Betsy; the Virginian; and two ranch hands, Trampas and Steve. The cast includes Lee J. Cobb as Judge Garth, Doug McClure as Trampas, and Gary Clarke as Steve.
