Minnows are usually .5 to 3 inches in size and are perfect for stocking a pond or to use as feeder fish or bait for crappie, perch, bluegill, or bass. Minnows are omnivores and mainly eat zooplankton and phytoplankton, but will eat all types of small dried and live food. Fathead minnows are fractional spawners and spawn throughout the spring and summer once the temperatures are about 65 degrees. Their high reproduction rate make them an excellent stocking choice.
