Description: Hiroshige — 100 Famous Views of Edo — AND — Shien — Torii at Miyajima These are authentic antique prints. I recently learned, thanks to a helpful Ebay member, that these images were often re-cut in these smaller sizes by the publisher, to use on cards or to promote the larger prints. The image on the right is actually #112 (don't know how that's possible) of Hiroshige's "100 Famous Views of Edo" series. It depicts Atagoshita and Yabu Lane. It is just a tiny bit smaller than 3 3/4" x 5 3/4". The image on the left is by the artist Shien and it depicts the Torii at Miyajima. That paper is just a little bit heavier than the Hiroshige paper. Size is just a tiny bit less than 3 7/8" x 6". Colors on both are all brilliant and clear. As you can see from the way the inks soaked into the paper, these are both woodblock prints, and both obviously antique. Both prints appear to have been mounted to something at some point. The small amount of mounting material on the backs (near the top of both) has NOT affected the fronts. I'm guessing you could have a conservator remove those with NO ill effects. This is how I found them. Thanks so much to the Ebay member who gave me the information that was missing from the original listing! PS: I considered separating these, in view of the new information, but for the moment it looks like you will just get a huge bargain with the two together. Merry Christmas!
