Description: This equivalent fractions activity set, with a valentine theme, is adorable! It is brand new and in excellent condition! I laminated the materials for durability and so that the recording sheet could be written on with a fine-tip dry erase marker and then erased with a tissue or cloth, so it could be reused! This set is from a smoke free home. I received this set at a Title I Math Inservice for elementary school teachers. It consists of an illustrated direction sheet that measures 8.5" x 11", an "Equivalent Fractions Recording Sheet" that measures 8.5" x 11", an "Equivalent Fractions Answer Key" that measures 8.5" x 11", and 16 two-piece heart puzzles that measure 4.125" x 3.625" when constructed. I did color in the borders on the recording sheet and answer key, with colored pencils, to brighten them up a little, as they were simply black and white. I also colored in the hearts and small border, on the direction sheet, with colored pencils. The direction sheet has a red, pink, and white diamond background. On the left side, it features a red heart with white lace trim and a pink heart, 2-piece puzzle, with white lace trim, with equivalent black fractions. On the right side of the page, "Sweetheart Equivalent Fractions Math Center" is printed in bold black letters with pink hearts in the center of some of the letters. Below this, directions are printed in black. The title of the game and the directions are enclosed in a white area that is bordered in pink with magenta hearts on each of the 4 corners. The pink heart puzzle pieces have white lace trim with fractions printed on them in black. The left-side pieces have fractions in reduced form. The right-side pieces have fractions that have not yet been simplified. Both the recording sheet and the answer key have scalloped red and pink borders decorated with horizontal lines. Each has a title in bold black print with white hearts in the middle of some of the letters. The recording sheet has a place for children to print both their name and the date up at the top. These 2 sheets are set up exactly the same way, with boxes numbered 1-16. In each box of the answer key, the 2 equivalent fractions that make up a puzzle are given with an "=" sign between them. To set up this activity, the direction sheet is laid out in the middle of the play area. The left side of the heart puzzles are laid out in one part of the play area and the right side in another. Children then match up puzzle pieces with equivalent fractions and write them in the boxes on the recording sheet. They then use the answer sheet to check their work. This set could be used by either an individual child or by a group of children. If used with a group, additional recording sheets would simply need to be made. This set would make a wonderful addition to a 3rd-5th grade classroom to be used during Math Centers around Valentine's Day! It would also be great to have in a household with children of the above age! I am hoping to find this set a good home.
