Description: For sale is a very rare original Parke Bernet catalog from the January, 1938, auction of the estate of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Carlisle of East Islip, Long Island, New York. This was the very first catalog and auction for the newly formed New York auction house, Parke Bernet. Mr. Carlisle was a wealthy financier whose Long Island estate, called "Rosemary", housed treasures from all over the world that the Carlisles collected over the years. Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle passed away within months of each other and their belongings were sold at this auction. Rosemary was demolished in 1939. This catalog is illustrated and is in very fine condition - please see condition description and photos for condition details. I am offering this historic first Parke Bernet catalog for $195, and I welcome offers. The price includes insured shipping to anywhere in the continental US. For Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and US Territories, please email for a shipping quote before you purchase. I ship internationally with eBay International Shipping (formerly Global Shipping Program or GSP). The international buyer must adhere to all eBay rules and requirements, and is responsible for all fees, duties, taxes, etc. that may be incurred in the shipping process. I request payment within one day of purchase. Please feel free to email with any questions you may have about this fine original Parke Bernet catalog.
