Description: Presented is a lovely set of 10 antique French Limoges china salad or dessert plates by Jean Pouyat, dating to around the 1890s. The plates have a soft spring green border with gorgeously hand painted flowers and rich gild decoration in raised gold, for a nice textural element. The flowers are all very realistic and skillfully painted, and each plate has a different type of flower. This set of plates is in excellent overall condition. The gilding is in great shape, with only a couple of minor losses here and there to the raised gilding. The painted decoration is in fabulous shape. One plate has a very minor chip to the underside rim, with just a tiny corresponding nick visible from the top side. There are no other chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. The plates are stamped with the mark for Jean Pouyat, Limoges, France on the underside in green. A couple of the plates are also marked CES in gold on the underside, perhaps the decorator. Each plate measures about 8 3/8 inches in diameter. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
