Description: A particularly fine example of a 19th century cowrie shell, carved in bas relief to reveal the Lord's Prayer in beautiful Gothic and Italic fonts. Each line of script is only 2mm high and perfectly legible, with no mistakes. These were sold to travelers as souvenirs during their "Grand Tour", usually in the 19th Century when global transportation was in its heyday. Circa 1880. Market-fresh estate piece. Feel free to message me with any questions. Thanks for looking!
