Check out my other items!Be sure to add me to your favorites list!This listing is for a vintage Buffet Crampon Bb soprano clarinet. The serial number is 1G754. That would indicate a c.1912 production date. At that time Buffet did not have all of the named models that they do now. Buffet clarinets from this era are generally referred to as "pre-R13". This was a professional level instrument of its day. It is made of grenadilla wood. It is stamped "LP", indicating 'low pitch', the desired tuning for modern applications. The clarinet features a "donut" D/A key, and a wrap-around register key. All four sections have the matching Buffet oval logo. This instrument is in very good condition. There are no cracks, nor any evidence of past crack repairs. There are no chips to the tenons or tone hole chimneys. The wood is in excellent condition with a nice tight grain, although it could probably use a good oiling. The tenon and bell rings are not loose. The key work is all operating as it should, with minimal wear to the plating. The nickel plating has dulled slightly with age. The pads, though not new, are in good condition and a suction test produces a good seal. The corks are also in good shape. There is no 'wobbling' of the joints due to compressed corks. The instrument is nice and clean and plays easily from top to bottom in its current state. Of course, you might want to have it adjusted to your personal taste, but most players will find it satisfactory as is.This instrument comes in a newer wood shell case. It shows moderate wear and tear, but it is in solid useable condition. The inside is odor free. There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included.
