Description: a vintage, egyptian revival brooch.it is made of a coppery bronze metal stamping, and a green, double sided bakelite or celluloid cabochon, held in the center with prongs. it depicts Khepri, the scarab god, in the center, with the sun in his hands, papyrus fans above and below him, and wings coming out of his sides. to either side of him, below and in front of his wings, are cobras in their striking pose.backside of the scarab is a cartouche of a goddess kneeling, and holding 2 staves and an ankh. I assume it is Ma'at, goddess of balance, but i'm not totally sure. on the back is a bar pin and safety latch, with the safety latch's original patent number, 2066969, on it.the patent was only good from 1935 to 1954.presumably this is from the earlier portion of that era, so the 1930s, judging by the style and the thinness of the metal. kind of pegs it as a depression era item. measurements: just under 2" tall, a little over 1.5" wide.
