Description: Vintage 1950'S Lionel Train Set Lot Tested Works w/ switches engine tunnel +more This was the train set I grew up with, it's been in our family for at least 65 years. It's always just been there, occasionally pulled out and played with. It's been decades since it's been out recently, and it's been living in my attic. I thought I would give it a try, and plug it in, and see what happens. After a struggle, low and behold it started working (see video). Lionel... I tell ya, amazing. I mainly had to play with the "forward and reverse" switch on the engine, and make sure it's in the right place. Give some coxing, then off it went. In this lot you get:Lionel 027 Diesel Switcher Engine, Made in the USA. It's red, marked "MKT 600". It has a plastic body, with metal superstructure. Tested and after some work, it worked. There is a crack in the plastic body, right in the front, where the screw that holds the body on, goes through. It also has some paint chips on the black paint. Lionel Caboose, red, marked "Lionel 6257", it has a plastic body, with metal superstructure, normal wear & tear, no broken parts and is complete. Lionel open top coal car, black, marked "Lionel 1002", it has a plastic body, and metal trucks, normal wear and tear, the markings are showing some wear, and it could use a cleaning. There is no broken parts, and is complete. Lionel log hauler car, grey and black, marked "Lionel", all metal construction, missing it's logs, normal wear and tear with some paint chips, no broken parts. Lionel Freight Car, "Cop and Hobo Car", marked "Lionel Lines Hydraulic Platform Maintenance Car", blue plastic body with plastic trucks, complete with the trestle transfer track and cop and hobo figures, figures are broken and in need of repair. Right and left hand Lionel manual switches, these are complete and work well, the light covers pop off on occasion. 3 Lionel signs, "Stop", "School Zone", and "30 MPH". They're a little bent and rusty. Lionel Metal hinged tunnel, graphics are fantastic and bright, complete and in excellent condition. Plasticville Suburban Station, excellent condition and with box. Missing one of the two "Plasticville" signs on the roof. New Bright 1989 "Express Overland Service" work shed, excellent condition and is complete, needs a good cleaning, pretty dusty. MARX "MAR Toys" Transformer, tested and it works. The top label is scratched from use. Black paint has scratches and chips. I never noticed after all these years that it was a MARX transformer and not a Lionel one. 1 piece of 10" straight track with electrical connectors. Some of the insulation is frayed, and it looks like the clips have been repaired, but it works. 9 pieces of 10" straight track, could use a good cleaning, some light corrosion, complete and working. Instruction sheets for the "Cop and Hobo Car" and the "Lionel Hand Controlled No. 042 switches. 12 pieces of 1/8th curve track, could use a good cleaning, some light corrosion, complete and working.
