Description: ***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - The manual wind movement runs about 2 minutes fast by the end of its approximate 42 hour power reserve period. The time sets without issue and the crown winds smoothly. The bezel spins freely with no friction and it's loose. The hands appear to be early replacements.***********This vintage 1966 Caravelle diver has a matte black "T JAPAN T" signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows wear. The lume, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a perfectly matching golden buttermilk hue. The hands appear to be early replacements. The black bezel, which shows considerable wear, rotates freely bidirectionally with no friction and it's loose. I have not removed it so I'm unsure whether it simply needs a tension spring or if it needs to be repaired/replaced...assume the latter. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with visibly insignificant signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "CARAVELLE | SHOCK RESISTANT | WATERPROOF TO 666 FEET | STAINLESS STEEL | ANTI MAGNETIC" with "M6" stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped "637." The crystal should be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Japan "CARAVELLE WATCH,""IIDP" and "M7" stamped manual wind movement runs strong, albeit fast. After recently winding the signed, non-screwdown crown 33 full revolutions the movement gained about 2 minutes by the end of its approximate 42 hour power reserve period. The time sets without issue and the crown winds buttery smooth. Given that the movement runs fast and considering that the bezel needs to be repaired/replaced this watch is being sold for parts/repair only. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm. This watch is being sold for parts/repair only. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.
