Description: ***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - The manual wind movement with semi-quickset date function will only run briefly when the time is being set as the crown cannot be wound (likely indicating that the mainspring needs to be replaced). The date wheel completes rolling over at approximately 1:17 am. Given that the movement does not run as it should and considering that it has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is required.***********This seldom seen vintage 1969 Timex diver, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a glossy black "2157 2569" signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows light wear and some dust/debris lying on its surface. Majority of the imperfections seen, including the black specs, are on the underbelly of the crystal. The lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The black countdown bezel, which shows wear and rotates stiffly bidirectionally, retains most of its original numbers, hash marks and inverted triangle paint. In my humble opinion the bezel's color combination complements the dial and patina beautifully. The chrome-plated case shows honest wear with signs of brassing/oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "100% WATERPROOF TESTED TO DEPTH OF 200 FEET | DUSTPROOF | CHR. PLATED BEZEL STAINLESS STEEL BACK | SHOCK RESISTANT" with "TIMEX" stamped in the center. The crystal shows scratching. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale I'm unable to remove this case back. The manual wind movement with semi-quickset date function will only run briefly when the time is being set as the crown cannot be wound (likely indicating that the mainspring needs to be replaced). The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 21.5 and 1.5 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. The date wheel completes rolling over at approximately 1:17 am. The non-screwdown crown does not wind. Given that the movement does not run as it should and considering that it has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 7.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 9.5 mm. A complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 13 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.
