The good bits: This item does power up and it also plays and fast forwards and rewinds. It works and produces sound on both output channels. VU meters lighting up and responding. There is also a working light showing speed and direction of the tape (interesting little added features). The case itself is very good with no scratches on the wood, original factory protective film is still intact on chrome edging.The brushed aluminum finish is in very good condition throughout Bad bits: Left channel sounds excellent but right channel sounds a little weak with background hum.1 small scratch in brushed aluminum above tape loading door through the ADR SYSTEM logo I haven’t seen a deck in this configuration before where it is more vertical and in fact has brackets to hang on a wall. I guess it has links to one of Akai’s reel to reels of this era. I have priced it on the basis that it needs work but it is a rare deck worth the effort.
