Description: Fantastic vintage mess dress jacket for an officer of the 2nd Punjab Regiment of the late British Indian Army. Features "Golden Galley" embroidered regimental badges and two ranks stars or pips for the rank of lieutenant.This mess dress likely dates to the 1930s or 1940s and the officer who wore it must have fought for the Raj in WWII. A really great vintage Indian Army / British Army uniform! The jacket is 100% original and pre-1945. Included is a set of mess trousers, probably from a later period. The first four battalions were raised during the hostilities in the Carnatic in south India between 1761 and 1776.
