Description: Fantastic and incredibly unique piece of vintage jewelry. Chinese carved jade charms dangle off this gold tone chain. I believe they are peaches. Each piece of carved jade has a small coral bead above it. In between the jade charms are brass balls/lanterns. Each respectively has a coral or turquoise bead above and below it. An old “sports clasp” holds it together. A sports clasp doesn’t have the little protruding tab that most clasps have. This was designed specifically so that the clasp wouldn’t snag delicate clothing during activity. It was used primarily in the 1930’s I believe. This bracelet came out of a large costume jewelry collection that one woman (and possibly some from her mother) collected over a lifetime. Mostly acquired 1930’s-1970’s it seems. I have not seen another piece like this anywhere in my research or in my time in general. Condition is good except that the ball/lantern with coral beads surrounding it is warped a little. It isn’t very noticeable when the bracket is being worn. A jeweler could straighten it out pretty easily I think. The jade was certainly carved in China. Whether or not the bracelet itself was made in China I don’t know for sure. It has a very Chinese feel to it in some respects while in totality it’s not similar to other Chinese jewelry. A neat and curious example to be sure. I believe it was made in the 1930’s. It’s just shy of 8” in total length, end to end. Shipping is ASAP! Thanks
