Description: A fabulous and rare set of 4 vintage linen cocktail napkins featuring cartoons done by Peter Arno. Peter Arno (1904-1968) was a well-known cartoonist of his time. He contributed 101 cartoons and covers to the New Yorker magazine from 1925, the magazine's first year, until 1968. He was a true bon vivant as described in a fascinating April 2016 article of Vanity Fair. Many of his illustrations still exist but these cocktail napkins are very hard to find. The napkins feature four different cartoons. Done in turquoise and black on off-white linen and finished with rolled edges. Signed Peter Arno. The set is in very good condition. No stains or wear. There are two very small holes. One tiny one is at the top of the "Gad! Stop the screaming" napkin. One other very small one is in the middle of Miss Fitch's dress. Shown in the last two photos. Easily forgiven in such an old, rare set. Hand-laundered and pressed. The napkins measure approx. 7 1/2"X 6 1/4". Please view all photos for the great graphics. See all my cocktail napkin listings.
