Description: I've owned this Elna 2004 about 20 years so it's been used a bit for general household garment repairs, hemming, basic alterations and some fun projects including lately a large canvas beach umbrella carrying bag and light leather repairs. It's a great, easy to use and a simple machine for home use but I just bought a used heavy duty Singer 44S, don't need two machines. My wife doesn't sew but I learned a bit from my mom who made all her own clothes, that's come in handy over the years. I've had 2 used computerized machines in 50 years but realized I didn't need all that fine tuning headache, I don't embroider anyway so why bother? That's when I found this older Elna. I've maintained it pretty well: I just opened and blew out a little lint with my compressor, needle-oiled it which I've done every 2 years or so and wiped the casing down with Lysol Handi-wipes just now. It does have some light scratches on various plastic surfaces, just normal wear and tear from metal zippers and hauling it while moving around in three countries over the years. It's clean enough, everything works and that's what really matters! One of the removable parts bin hinge pins has been repaired with a bit of paper clip wire and is fully functional. What is included are the original manual, the remaining feet and 5 metal bobbins which I can't use: the Singer takes only plastic #15. There's a small ivory plastic cover button missing on the top near the twin thread spindles on the right side, doesn't affect anything but cosmetics.Sorry, no case, just a clear plastic dust cover. It'll be bubble wrapped and carefully boxed for shipment to you. This portable Elna 2004 machine is perfect for denim, general woven, stretch or knitted fabrics with no issue and can handle as I found out some modest weight canvas and suede type leather with the proper needle and slow speed. I've just developed an interest in working with heavier material, can't afford a Juki or Chandler industrial machine, don't have the room for the table those require either so the Singer 44S was a decent compromise, I can still do household repairs with that one. Maybe this Elna 2004 is just what you need for a portable basic no nonsense sewing machine and for a reasonable price. Elna has a very good reputation, Swiss made, solid and dependable.
