Vintage Excellent Resistol 1960s Beaver “20” Black Big GUS-Tom Mix Cowboy 7-1/4

Description: This Great Vintage Bradford ( actually manufactured by Resistol) very early 1960s - Beaver “20” Twenty - Black - Big tall Gus - Tom Mix with a Nice Very Wide 3.9 inch wide brim. This is another of son’s GREAT True Vintage Resistol BR Twenty “20” Beaver Gus Tom Mix Cowboy hats. This was manufactured from a Higher Grade Beaver - “20”, as compared to the 3X Beaver (3X was still a great hat but these higher grade ones are just so much softer. Since this is a true vintage Beaver it’s very very soft to the touch. There is NO comparison to any of the newer hats that are sold today! The new higher quality (like the Stetson 30X Beaver) are very stiff and not really pliable at all! There is just NO way to compare this to anything new! If you look at the leather sweatband you will see there is only very very minor wear on it! It appears to have been worn and then just stored away. We can see the bit of fading on the lettering but is just that, the lettering only, not the leather itself. See pictures, not even the reed where hats show wear always after it’s been worn has any or near no wear to it. The reed is the part of the leather sweatband that attaches to the beaver. NO HAT BOX CURRENTLY! JUST THERE FOR THE PICTURE. This is a long hat, over 16 inches and will require a larger shipping box than we normally use. So shipping is just a bit more expensive. We always want the hat to arrive in the SAME SHAPING it is in the pictures so we Do NOT stuff hats into to small a box! The Beaver “20” is very soft and pliable. The brim is easily steam shaped as is the crown but Dad and grandson decided this looked outstanding as a Gus. This was steamed first to an Open Crown but that Gus Tom Mix looked so great that it was steamed into the hat. It only needed cleaning with horsehair brush and did a bit more steam shaping to tune it up a bit. A lint brush will be a good idea to have around. We used it on the hat to make it really shine! BR does NOT stand for Beaver, it stands from Byer-Rolnick, 2 of Resistol’s hat designers. The “20” represents the quality of Beaver! One of their best, high end materials! Compared to the 3X Beaver at that time. So this was custom shaped into that Gus style cattleman shape. You can see in the pictures just how Excellent it looks! This style is something folks will look twice at! It’s a real looker! We filled the picture gallery so you can see every detail, we hid NOTHING. The color is Black and The picture number of the whole underside is the best representation of the actual color. It’s the closest one.SO CURRENTLY NO HAT BOX! That Black Feather was with the hat. Ok now the particulars The size tag states 7-1/4 and this measures to a PERFECT 7-1/4 at 22-3/4 inches. We use the Tilley Hat Sizing chart for sizes, that came in the 1970s when the Tilley Hat Sizing Chart was developed. And like always we measure each hat 3 times using different methods to verify the actual size!
