"C melody" saxophone. The serial number is 20,xxx, which indicates a mid-1920's production date. This horn has satin silver plate finish. It features a forked Eb mechanism and G# trill key, plus Holton's proprietary high C-D trill key. It has some nice floral engraving on the bell. There is also a tiny bit of engraving on the low Bb pad cup, which is quite unusual. It is difficult to tell exactly what it is, but I'm guessing it is initials of a previous owner. This horn is being sold as is for restoration. It is not playable in its current state due to badly leaking pads. A full overhaul will be required to make it playable. On the plus side, this horn is in great physical condition, so it is an excellent candidate for an overhaul. Read on for details on its condition. This horn is in overall very good physical condition. The body is straight, and the neck has not been pulled down. There might be a few tiny pings or nicks, but there are no significant dents or dings. The bow guard curvature has not been distorted, and the rim of the bell has never been bent. I don't see any resoldered joints. The key guards have not been bent. The keys are all moving freely, and the rollers are turning. The silver plate finish is heavily tarnished but is almost fully intact. There is just a tiny bit of brass peeking through at a few high contact points. The pads are quite old and worn. It still has some of its original white 'pillow' pads in fact, and these seem to have swollen in a way that is making them leak very badly. It will definitely need all new pads/corks/felts in addition to a good cleaning. There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included, except for the original silver end plug.
