Description: This is a great looking, vintage miniature Katana letter opener. It is 8" long. Has handpainted design on scabbard on one side and advertising for Worthington Wholesale Grocer Co., Worthington, Minnesota on the other. The ends are capped with white plastic or shell. They even made the blade to have temper marks. Most real swords are tempered (hardened) by heating the blade and submerging it in cold water or oil. The Katana had more flexibility because they tempered only the edge, leaving the sword body not so rigid. The last two photos show where they gave it a tempered look.
