You slide the lever to the letter of the contact you need, push down on the bar and it opens up to reveal the information. The top is a champagne-colored metal with a picture of a good old-fashioned telephone. It is in vintage condition with minor scuffs or blemishes but not bad at all considering its age. It does NOT have any inserts to write on anymore. It measures 6.5 inches from side to side, 6 inches from back to front and stands approximately 1.5 inches tall. If you are able to find inserts it will be ready to go but even without the inserts what a cool piece of nostalgia to sit atop your desk.
