If you are looking for something rare and special for the old vintage mic collection that rarely comes around then you might appreciate this Universal brand mic desk stand from the 1930's era. You are looking at a Universal P-313 model detachable desk stand that closely resembles the Shure S34A & S34B model. They are very common with each other as this P-313 model has a painted aluminum base with detachable painted wooden handle allowing the user of the mic to quickly release the mic attached and walk around using the handle to support the mic. This design was very practical for it's time as very few people actually held those mics in their hand. It was considered taboo so the mic stand handle was a more civilized and practical option. The P-313 stand was made in Inglewood, Ca back when Universal first started as a company. These stand very rarely pop up online. This is probably only the 5th example I have personally seen in the last 12 years. It's a good stand for small and medium sized mics. The larger microphones (such as RCA 77DX or 55 "Fatboy") of that period are not ideal for this stand. You'll see the Turner 33D on this stand and it's a good match. The stands riser seats on the base via a small hole where the riser sits. There is plenty of tension once applied. Easy to remove once lifted upwards. The top wooden riser has the black painted finish and looks very nice while the bottom painted aluminum base shows a bit more wear. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. The stand has the 3 original rubber pads and they are in excellent shape. Stand is appx 6 1/2 inches tall X 4 1/2 inches wide. Stand works excellent and again, a very rare piece.
