Description: This is a handsome piece of art pottery from the Roseville Pottery Company of Roseville and Zanesville, Ohio, which was incorporated in 1892. According to Roseville catalogs it is listed as a jardinière (an ornamental pot or planter) and measures approximately 3 5/8” in height and 7” in diameter, including handles. It belongs to Roseville’s pottery line, “Ivory”, which was introduced in 1932. Pieces in this line feature unadorned semi-matte ivory vessels made in the molds of other Roseville patterns. It is marked on the base with a faint incised, “Roseville”, and the mold number, “550-4”. This vintage jardinière is in good condition with the exception of some manufacturing flaws, a nick along the rim, a small chip on one handle and some minor discolorations. Despite these few imperfections this is a classic piece of Roseville pottery.
