Vintage USSR Era Nesting Dolls 5 pc Russian Leaders from Lenin to Gorbachev RARE

Description: For sale is this set of vintage 1991 USSR 5-piece nesting dolls each one fitting perfectly inside the next. The dolls are handcrafted from turned wood and depict Communist political leaders of the USSR era from its inception 1922 until its dissolution in 1991. The set includes; Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev and Gorbachev in the order they lead the country. The pieces range in size from the smallest at 3/4" tall to the largest at 6". Each piece is hand painted in detail with Lenin and Gorbachev holding Russian documents in their hands that reference the restructuring of the country. Both are also holding/hiding papers behind their backs, presumably a subtle criticism by the artist of the past leaders. The set is signed on the bottom of the largest piece with the artist's initials and date. The dolls are a unique piece of historical memorabilia that would make a great addition to any collection. They are made of high-quality materials and have been well-preserved over the years. Gorbachez has a shallow dent on his head (see last photo) but otherwise all the pieces are in pristine condition with no damage or paint wear. This particular set is a rare find for any collector or history enthusiast.
