Two classic 1950s shockers on opposite sides of same disc as a double feature. Both films are black and white and full-frame in 4:3 aspect ratio. "Voodoo Island" stars Boris Karloff as a paranormal phenomenon investigator hired to find out why the sole survivor of a survey team to a pacific island came back alone in a trance. Karloff leads a team consisting of the survivor, his secretary Beverly Tyler, Elisha Cook, Murvyn Vye, Rhodes Reason, Jean Engstrom and Francis Ledebur. They find the island inhabited by voodoo practitioners and maneating plants! Not a good spot for a resort. Watch carefully for Adam West's film debut as a radio operator. "The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake" involves the curse placed on the descendants of the Drake family by an Amazon tribal witch doctor: all males die at age 60, found decapitated, and have their skulls removed and added to the family vault. Poor Jonathan (Eduard Franz) is next after his brother unless someone can end the curse. Good spooky atmosphere and some great makeup effects here. Recommended for fans of low budget black and white horror films.
