Description: Armor Bronze Co. made bookends in their Taunton, MA business from 1934-1948. This pair is an example of their time-consuming bronze-clad method, where cast plaster figures were electroplated with a thin layer of bronze and decorated with polychrome accents. The subject of this pair of bookends is Bob Burns, poet of Scotland, who lived from 1759-1796. Each piece is 5 1/4" tall, 3 1/2" in length, and 2 1/4" in width. The original stickers are still attached firmly underneath each item, and read "Armor Bronze Co. Taunton MA, Armor Goods of Merit USA Bronze by Master Craftsmen". The original felt underneath has wear and is loose in corner of one. There is wear to the gold color finish, but the blue and red polychrome is still strong. Please see all pictures for condition and details. Enjoy!
