Description: Vtg Charlie McCarthy (Edgar Bergen) 'Dummy' Standing Composite Still Bank c1930s Click image to enlarge Description Offered for your consideration is a vintage Charlie McCarthy still bank. Edgar Bergen was a ventriloquist, who started his career in the mid 1930s, and Charlie was his dummy sidekick. This composite bank, from, I would guess, the 1930-40s, features the ventriloquist's dummy standing with his hands in his pockets, dressed in his iconic black suit and bow tie. The bank is filled by placing a coin into the dummy's mouth. The bottom of the bank reminds you to 'FEED ME I SAVE YOU MONEY'. There are no marks to identify the maker or origin of the piece. In very good 'as found' condition, the bank retains the vast majority of original color. There is a crack to the right side of the bank from about the 'knee' to the bottom. The bank DOES still retain the original bottom 'plug', although it does appear it has been removed at some point, probably to empty the contents. The bank stands about 9 3/4" tall and is about 3" at it's widest with a 3" diameter bottom. He has a weight of about 8 ounces, and will ship at 1 pound 8 ounces, as he will be double boxed for protection.
