VTG Corgi Toys 245 RARE WIRE WHEELS, BUICK RIVIERA

Description: This is such a great find! This/These belonged to my Italian grandparents or Italian Uncle. Has been in storage for 20+ years. Smoke-free home. Please note ALL photos and shipping costs before bidding. Introduced into the Corgi range in 1964, the Buick Riviera was produced in gold, metallic blue and pale blue. It was given Glidamatic suspension and Corgi's innovative 'Trans-O-Lite' front and rear lights - which could be independently operated by placing your hand over either the front windscreen or rear window. Unusually for a Corgi it came with a rear tow hook, which could be hitched to a separate boat and trailer. The model sold well on both sides of the Atlantic - over 800,000 were produced - and remained in production until 1968. The most sought after version today is the version with wire wheels - as opposed to cast spokes or plain spun hubs. This one is in fairly good condition. It has signs of wear and tear from age, being in storage so long and the fact that it was played with by my uncle when he was younger. There is no box. These unusual headlights are cool to look at. They look like a deep, dark yellow amber color. I believe there are some of these that might still be in production and people are trying to pass them off as old, because I stumbled upon a website selling some from Australia. But don’t be fooled. This one IS vintage. And I believe this one has the more sought after wire wheels. (if I am wrong about that, please correct me because I don’t claim to know everything about vintage toy cars.)
