Description: VTG SILVER PLATE ASHTRAY w/MATCH HOLDER, TITANIC WHITE STAR LINE TYPE, ENGRAVED VINTAGE SILVER PLATED ASHTRAY w/ MATCH HOLDER, TITANIC WHITE STAR LINE STYLE, TARNISHED Vintage silver plate ashtray with matches holder. I purchased some of these to display with my RMS Titanic collection. It is similar to White Star Line ashtrays, also used on the RMS Titanic in that they are silver colored and have a match holder. I’m also including a home-made matchbox I’ve made to look like White Star Line matches. Just for clarity’s sake, this ashtray has/had absolutely nothing to do with The White Star Line, RMS Titanic or any movie. It is just an antique silver plated ashtray with a matches holder, similar to those used on/in the above. Pictures are shown of actual ashtrays for reference (not included). It is in “salvaged,” severely tarnished condition that presumably can be cleaned/polished up, just going by its bottom side which is still silver colored... It has engraving... “Greetings from Hamburg,” and, “to Curley from Earnie U. Am.” Fun!* My plan was to acquire some of these ashtray types, fill the engraving with silver solder, and re-engrave them with the White Star Line flag logo... to be displayed with my collection... But, this proved way out of my skill set... Maybe you know about that and can do it. I’ll put a scalable logo graphic in the description photos. I actually had some vinyl appliqué masks made for the project, which you may have some, too, if requested. It also has a maker’s mark above the “Curley” engraving side of the matchbox holder which I cannot decipher, presumably made in Germany, long, long ago. This item more resembles the ones seen in James Cameron’s Titanic (1997) movie, but still a fun addition to your collection. I have one displayed with the Minicraft 1:350 Titanic model I made in the 1980s... along with the J. Peterman Silver Plate Menu and Holder. And also lovely with the Airfix & Academy 1:400 or the magnificent Trumpeter 1:200. Or any scale, even the Revell 1:570, etc. Thanks and good luck!
