He started as a Lithographic draughtsman but soon turned to painting. His work included portraits, landscapes and views of Edinburgh in oil. Associated wit the East Linton group of painters and most of his landscapes are of East Linton. He was in addition a muralist and book illustrator. William Henry Margetson (1861 – 1940) was a British painter and illustrator. Margetson painted in oils and watercolours. He made his name with portraits of beautiful women, often with modern hairstyles and hats. He also created religious and allegorical artworks. Margetson also worked as an illustrator of books. * Seller’s Condition rating for vintage and collectable books: *AA down to *BB – cover and pages are mostly clean and unmarked.
