Description: One of my FAVORITE folk medicine herbal plants is the Poke Root. And as a kid, you were always told "Don't eat the poke berries, they're poisonous!!" And while if you eat a bunch of them, they CAN give you a belly ache, there has been VERY FEW documented cases of poke actually killing anyone. So they're not nearly as poisonous as they've been portrayed. With that said.... ANY strong herbal medicinal has to be dosed very carefully, as they all have side effects if you take too much. So, be very careful with this strong herbal remedy. And start off with just 3 or 4 drops, and titrate yourself up to the largest dose that you feel works for you, and doesn't cause side effects, the most common one, being diarrhea and stomach upset. I myself, take about 3 droppers FULL. So that's about 60 or so drops. But I started out eating the berries whole. Just a couple at a time, and then worked up. It's said that the SEEDS are what is the "poisonous" part. But in order to even get anything from the seeds in your system you would have to crush them, and they are SUPER hard!! Even birds don't digest them. That's how the poke gets spread, is that the birds eat the berries, then poop out the seeds everywhere intact. The digestion systems of the birds actually help to prepare the seed for germination by scarring them up a bit, and softening the outer casing just enough to help them burst forth a seedling. Without that, many seeds just lie on the ground for many years until they finally get scuffed up enough to germinate. Now.... I'm not going to make any actual medicinal CLAIMS, I'm only going to share with you the FOLK LORE and my own anecdotal information about the effects taking them has. If you are from the Appalachian region, you'll hear of this plant being used for hundreds, perhaps even thousands of years for a wide variety of ailments. But it's MOST widely known for it's "supposed" ability to treat rheumatoid arthritis, as well as other inflammatory conditions. This is one of the reasons I take it, and I can tell you, that it does seem to work. I was having a lot of pain in the hands and fingers, and had a condition called trigger finger. After a few months of taking this, it's barely there. Now I'm not saying that it's SURE to work in every case, I'm just saying it SEEMS to work for me. And there's a reason why centuries of people have claimed that as well. Just the health benefits alone are pretty impressive. The berries are LOADED with vitamin C, and all the "anti's" (that I'm not allowed to mention here)....particularly the one that starts with V and ends with L.... all VERY important right now, since certain groups of people WANT to make us all sick, and big P doesn't want anyone to know about the NATURAL ways to keep yourself healthy and disease free!!! There are some people, particularly in the Appalachian region, who will swear that this plant is one of the strongest medicinals on the planet, at the very least, in the regions where it grows. God has given us ALL strong medicines that grow in our own regions, which make us strong and fight disease. EVEN the ones that are created and purposely spread. I allow these wonderful plants to grown wild on our properties, where they are free from herbicide and pesticide runoff, and have good clean soil to grow in. The berries are picked at the height of ripeness (just as the birds are beginning to feast on them!), mashed, some 80 proof vodka or grain alcohol is added (just enough to keep it from over fermenting and as a preservative) and then allowed to sit on the counter top and ferment for 2 or 3 weeks, then it's strained, and refrigerated. Just like ANY ferment, it will stay good for a long time as long as you keep it in a cool place, and keep the cap sealed well. I advise that you use the entire bottle within a year though, just to be safe. I keep mine in the fridge. Your poke berry juice ferment tincture will come in your choice of 1 oz, 2 oz, or 4 oz dropper bottle, dark colored glass (either amber or blue). SHIPPING: All orders are well packed for shipping!!
