The car beat out over 75 scouts for the local pack derby and then beat the best of the best from all the packs at the council derby. This pinewood derby car is made 100% from the BSA kit. It has a few features on it that make it a winner:- 3 wheel contact reduces the amount of friction of the wheels with the track. One wheel does not touch the track surface, but the car is perfectly balanced to deal with that- High crossbar in front plus body cutout. This allows the car to start moving before the other cars as the starting pin drops out of the way of the body. The other competitors cars still have their bodies sitting on the starting pin when this car is already moving. The bar height is adjustable.- Wheels and nails are polished and deburred to reduce friction between the wheels, car body and nails.- Wheels are convex shape on the outer diameter to reduce friction with the track surface.- Wheel base is maximize to reduce corrections going down the track. Corrections cause impact of the car with the center strip and every correction slows down the car.- Weight is concentrated in the back of the car to maximize potential energy so that maximum energy is delivered to the car for speed. This feature really makes the car shine after coming off the incline and makes it go faster on the straightaway than competitors. Trophy not included.
