Description: A stunning example of a World War One O.R.s Darkened Brass Cap Badge for the Hampshire Regiment 1914-1918 In 1881 the37th (North Hampshire), Regiment of Footand the67th (South Hampshire) Regiment of Foot were merged to become 1st & 2nd Battalions The Hampshire Regiment Some 33 years later with the outbreak of World War One,both of these two regular battalions were deployed toThe Western Front: 1st Battalion in 1914 and then 2nd Battalion in 1916, (having first fought at Gallipoli in 1915.) Whilst 1st & 2nd Battalions remained in France until war's end in November 1918,The Hampshire's also raised 31 Reserve, Territorial & New Army Battalionswhich also served on the Western Front in WW-I, plus in India, Mesopotamia, Salonika and Egypt.
