Description: Engraved WW1 sharpshooter badge Engraved: W. V. Ziem Based off my research, I believe it is Williem Victor Ziehm. The majority of these badges i have came across are usually USMC vets and I could not find any Army vets with the initials W V or W U. I believe it is just a simple engraving mistake middle initial looking like a U. Last name can easily be a spelling error. William was born on Aug. 21, 1890 in New York. He joined the USMC on Aug. 5, 1917. William received this badge on Oct. 23, 1917. He served overseas in the 2nd Division, I believe it was 47th Company, 5th Regiment specifically. On June 24, 1918 he was WIA. William passed away on June 5, 1955.
