Description: This WW2 Early War Japanese IJA Arisaka Type 30 Bayonet & Steel Scabbard is in good condition overall but does show expected signs of age, service and storage. The blade is marked on the ricasso and production was carried out by National Denki under the supervision the Kokura arsenal. The fullered blade retains a strong amount of original finish however it does appear to have been sharpened at some point in the past. The hooked quillon crossguard appears to indicate early production, possibly being carried out before World War 2 began. The wooden grips are secure and appear to be in good condition, no cracks or other damage can be found. The pommel is marked with a serial number as well as what appears to be a Series number. The press stud is free and appears to function as intended. The steel scabbard is in good condition overall but also displays expected signs of age and wear from use. The body of the scabbard retains a noticeable amount of it's original blued finish however there are a few light dents present. Of particular interest, on the backside of the scabbard there appears to be three Japanese characters inscribed in white paint. Two are very faint while the third appears to be strong and readable. The blade fits snuggly and securely in the scabbard, no "wobble" or "play" can be detected while sheathed. Please examine the photographs carefully for the best description of contents and condition.
