Description: This is solid 'Combat Serviceable' example of a M1942 Steel Canteen ("VOLLRATH 1943") in a M1910 Cover, side-seam Light Shade OD#3 with a barely legible contractor data stamped above the bottom rear seam ("BAKER-LOCKWOOD MFG. CO. 1943") both display well and have the 'authenticating patina' of actual in-theater-use! M1910 COVER+ The Cover shows real use, e.g. water stains, dinginess, fading from being washed, and lightly hand-marked on the bottom "G 2813". Perfect for a combat veteran impression!+ One slight 1/4 seam "fraying" on the rear, right below the 'neck binding' (see photo).+ Having been washed the Cover will not accomodate both a Canteen and Cup. The height of the Cover has been slightly reduced...but not the width/circumference.+ Perfectly intact and clean wool Inusulation.+ No fraying of the Edge Binding or the M1910 Belt Attachment Tab.+ Slight wear to the finish of the blackened brass "KLIKIT * PULL" Fasteners.+ Slight wear to the finish of the blackened steel M1910 Belt Hook.+ The contractor data abover the rear seam is faded and barely legible, but APPEARS to read: BAKER-LOCKWOOD MFG. CO. 1943*****M1942 CANTEEN+ The Canteen is free of corrosion and major dents, but shows several small dings on the bottom left edge.+ The Canteen is stamped on the bottom:U.S.VOLLRATH1943+ The M1942 Bakelite Cap has the rugged recessed chain post threads smoothly. There is a slight 'nick' on the top edge.+ ZERO corrosion or damage to the Chain which is the early "LONG" version that was reduced to save steel at some point in 1943 by most contractors. + The original chipped cork Gasket is presentl
