Description: Thank you for viewing our listings. This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild. Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices. The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Franz Wassermeier Franz was a Private and driver in an engineer/demolition unit. He is shown in a civilian suit but is wearing his S. A. Sports badges along with a DAF pin and another above it that is too blurry to identify. He was severely wounded on the Eastern front on July 25, 1942 and passed the following day at the age of 22.
