WWII US NAVY MK2 FIGHTING KNIFE USN MARK 2 KA-BAR WW2 SEABEE

Description: For sale is a WW2 US Navy USN Kabar Mark 2 MK2 Seabee combat fighting knife with scabbard. It has been sharpened and the leather grip is intact. This belonged to my grandfather who fought in World War 2 during combat for the US Navy. If you're looking for a knife that has no history and is super clean like most that are being sold on Ebay this isn't it. Below is a history of the action my grandfather saw while in the Navy and the journey this knife traveled with him. My grandfather served with the Construction Battalion Detachment CBD 1012 in 1942. He was first sent to Morocco in Northern Africa where he was responsible for building staging and training areas along the Mediterranean Sea. Soon he would be responsible for building pontoons that would be used in combat in Sicily. On D-Day his unit was one of the first ashore the Normandy beaches as they were responsible for removing the debris and blockage that the Germans had set up to keep the Americans from landing and did this while under heavy fire from the Germans. When returning home the soldiers were issued new uniforms, boots, and knives for parade purposes. They were suppose to hand in what they used for these new items... My grandpa never handed in his knife.
